Today, Wednesday, marks the conclusion of the International School Games “Bahrain 2024,” held from October 23 to 31 with the Kingdom’s grand hosting of 5,515 students from 80 school unions across 71 countries. This edition has been recorded as the largest in the history of the Gymnasiade, fostering an atmosphere of enthusiasm and spirited competition.
Athletes from around the world competed in 26 different sports, including athletics, archery, badminton, 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, chess, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, and judo. Additionally, the tournament featured events for athletes with special needs in athletics, badminton, and judo, reinforcing inclusivity in international sports.
The closing ceremony will take place at Khalifa Sports City Stadium, commencing at 5:30 p.m. with the arrival of the event sponsor, followed by the national anthem and the procession of flags representing each participating team. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Organizing the Games, will deliver the official closing speech. The evening will continue with a series of artistic performances.
This landmark event has offered thousands of young athletes the opportunity to experience diverse cultures. It competes with high sportsmanship, underscoring Bahrain’s commitment to advancing international school sports and fostering meaningful interaction among youth from various nations.
