A delegation from the International School Sports Federation (ISF) conducted an extensive inspection of the sports facilities at the American University of Bahrain, which will host various competitions for the upcoming International School Games “Bahrain 2024”. The event, scheduled for October, will be held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The delegation included Saurabh Mishra, ISF Sports Director; Uroš Savic, ISF Event Director; Yuan Ren, ISF Communications and Marketing Director; and Romain Fermon, ISF Education Director. They were accompanied by Madin Al-Wanas, a member of the Executive Committee of the School Games “Bahrain 2024” and Chairman of the Technical Committee.
The visit focused on inspecting the facilities hosting key competitions in aerial gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and chess. The delegation toured the main stadiums, guest lounges, changing rooms, and the media centre, receiving a detailed briefing on the preparations and equipment needed for hosting these competitions. The technical committee ensured that all facilities met the standards set by the ISF.
During the visit, the delegation closely examined the indoor sports halls where the competitions will occur and discussed plans for ensuring the venues’ compliance with international regulations. They also reviewed the work plan for the final preparations, emphasizing the importance of delivering world-class facilities for the event, which will see participation from more than 80 countries and over 5,000 athletes competing in 25 sports disciplines.
The ISF delegation, after expressing satisfaction with the facilities and readiness, provided valuable feedback and recommendations to the Executive Committee for further enhancements ahead of the tournament. This visit is part of ongoing cooperation between the ISF and the Executive Committee to ensure all details are meticulously reviewed for a successful and smooth execution of the games.
