Bahraini teams competing in the 3×3 basketball tournament delivered notable performances in yesterday’s matches, held at the outdoor courts in Isa Sports City.
In Group 1, Bahrain Team (5) claimed an exciting 9-6 victory over Chile (1) following a hard-fought match, although they previously encountered a 2-13 loss to England.
In Group 2, Bahrain Team (3) played a close morning match against the Philippines, narrowly losing 11-12, followed by an evening match against Nigeria, ending in an 8-14 defeat.
In Group 4, Bahrain Team (2) earned a narrow 16-14 win over India, despite an earlier 7-11 loss to China. Bahrain Team (1) also impressed with consecutive victories, defeating Nepal 17-8 and then Bahrain (6) by a score of 10-4.
In the girls’ division, the Bahraini team faced challenging matches in Group 2, resulting in losses to Nigeria (2-21) and Slovenia (2) (3-17).
As Bahrain’s 3×3 basketball teams continue to compete with determination, the journey in beach volleyball has come to a close, marking a spirited campaign across both sports at the Gymnasiade 2024.

Bahrain’s journey in the beach volleyball tournament concluded in the second round of the Gymnasiade 2024, held on the outdoor courts at Isa Sports City. The Bahraini team (1), represented by Ali Sultan and Ali Yaqoub, faced a narrow defeat to Chile (2) in a thrilling three-set match.
The opening set saw a close battle, with Chile edging out Bahrain at 23-21. Bahrain rallied in the second set, securing a win with a score of 21-17. However, in the decisive third set, the Chilean team regained control, winning with a six-point lead at 15-9 to close out the match.
In another second-round match, Bahrain team (5), comprising Mohammed Haruna and Abbas Ihsan, put up a strong effort but fell to Croatia in straight sets, both ending at 21-18. Despite their determined performances, both Bahraini teams exited the tournament.
