The Bahrain Paralympic Team continues its intensive preparations for participation in the International School Sports Games (Bahrain 2024), with daily training sessions for the male and female athletes set to compete in the Games hosted by the Kingdom this October.
The Bahrain Paralympic Team will participate in the Paralympic athletics and badminton competitions, with 15 male and female athletes selected: 11 in athletics (5 female and 6 male) and 3 in badminton (1 female and 2 male).
Iman Hassan, the technical director of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, stated: “The Paralympic Committee is honored to oversee all preparations for the team members, with His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, President of the Paralympic Committee, and Ali Al Majid, Secretary-General of the Committee, closely monitoring all details related to the preparations.”
Hassan added, “The team is intensifying its preparations for the championship through daily training throughout the week in designated fields and sports halls, according to the plan prepared to prepare the athletes for this important participation, aiming for complete readiness to represent the Kingdom in the best possible way and compete for the best positions amidst strong participation from various countries.”
The team is supervised by a coaching staff of eight coaches distributed across the athletics and badminton disciplines.
She continued, “We take pride in having several of our champions with determination on the team, such as shot put champion Zainah Al-Balooshi, runner Ahmed Nouh on the wheelchairs, champion Sayid Hussain Ahmed in shot put and discus, and champion Fatima Al-Sayed in both shot put and discus. Additionally, champion Zainab Mohammed will participate in badminton alongside a group of players selected from school championships.”
Iman stressed that this championship represents a genuine opportunity for young athletes to interact and compete and is considered the beginning of building a new generation of athletes, which is one of the strategic goals of the Paralympic Committee.
She concluded by saying, “Through this championship, we seek to highlight the sport of individuals with determination in the Kingdom of Bahrain and achieve a commendable sporting achievement and secure advanced positions.”
