As of the close of the second day, Bahrain’s athletes have added an additional three gold, four silver, and eight bronze medals to their tally, bringing the nation’s total to five gold, five silver, and ten bronze medals.
The Bahraini athletics team delivered an outstanding performance, securing seven medals across various events in an electrifying atmosphere at the Bahrain National Stadium. Star athlete Rehana Grubah clinched the gold in the girls’ 100-metre sprint, while her teammate Sofin Hasmao took the top spot in the girls’ 400-metre race, underscoring the Bahraini team’s significant progress in sprinting disciplines.
Additionally, the team earned three silver medals: Ahmed Sabry excelled in the men’s high jump, Laila Kamal shone in the girls’ 100-metre sprint, and Mohammed Al-Mudhahi won silver in the discus throw in the Paralympic athletics events. Abbas Abkar won Bahrain’s bronze medals in the men’s sprints in the 100 metres and Alaa Sami in the 400 metres, reflecting the team’s strength and consistency across various categories.
In the 200-metre qualifiers, Bahraini athletes Aisha Bess, Laila Kamal, Naima Naomi, Rehana Grubah, and Sofin Hasmao demonstrated exceptional skill, securing their spots for the upcoming finals. Their advancement promises further triumphs for Bahrain in the coming days of the competition.
Bahrain’s Karate Team Excels with Eight Medals at International School Games
Bahrain’s karate team delivered a standout performance in the tournament’s karate competitions, held at Hall C in Isa Town Sports City, securing a remarkable eight medals: one gold, one silver, and six bronze.
In individual events, Bahraini champion Sarah Hani achieved a well-deserved gold in the category of over 60 kg. Muhannad Musa added to the tally with a silver medal in the over 70 kg category, while bronze medals were earned by Mohammed Ahmed Al-Ahmed (over 75 kg), Fawzia Al-Amiri (over 55 kg), Mohammed Hameed (under 55 kg), and Dana Mohammed Fazea (under 55 kg).
In team events, the boys’ team in the 14-16 age category—comprising Abdullah Al-Marbati, Mohammed Hamid, and Ali Ismail—performed exceptionally to win a bronze medal. The girls’ team in the same age group, featuring Fawzia Al-Amiri, Dana Mohammed Fazea, and Sarah Hani, also earned a bronze, reflecting Bahrain’s collective strength across both individual and team competitions.
