The Volunteers and Support Services Committee organized a training workshop titled “Psychological Preparedness for Organizing an International Sports Championship” on Sunday evening. The workshop was led by Dr. Nabeel Taha, as part of Bahrain’s preparations to host the International School Games “Bahrain 2024,” which will be held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, in October.
The workshop saw remarkable participation from volunteers, focusing on the importance of psychological preparation for the organizing teams and how to handle challenges during major events.
During the workshop, Dr. Nabeel Taha covered several important topics, including managing psychological pressure, boosting self-confidence, and enhancing decision-making abilities under stress. The workshop emphasized providing the necessary psychological tools to ensure successful event organization and improve the overall performance of the volunteer teams.
In his statement on the sidelines of the workshop, Dr. Nabeel Taha said, “Workshops like these are essential to ensure volunteers are psychologically prepared to handle the changes and pressures that come with organizing major international events. We are completely satisfied with the level of participation and interaction, and the volunteers demonstrated commitment and dedication, reflecting their full readiness to execute their tasks successfully.”
The participants expressed their gratitude for this training opportunity provided by the Volunteers and Support Services Committee, affirming that previous training workshops have enhanced their technical and organizational abilities, raising their preparedness for their roles during the championship. They also expressed full satisfaction with the quality of the training programs, considering them as a comprehensive preparation.
This workshop is part of the efforts of various committees in preparation for hosting the largest school sports event in history, spanning 10 days in October 2024. The event will see widespread participation from 80 countries worldwide, with 5,000 students competing in 25 different sports. Fourteen venues have been designated to host the games and specialized programs, further demonstrating Bahrain’s ability to organize a global sporting event of this magnitude in accordance with the highest international standards.
