The Bahraini school handball team continues its rigorous preparations for the upcoming International School Games “Bahrain 2024”, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, from October 24 to 31. Tunisian coach Sobhi Ben Majid highlighted that the preparation phase, which began in early September, included all players except those involved in the Asian Junior Championship. The team was divided into two groups and participated in six friendly matches, three between internal teams and the others against local clubs Barbar, Al-Dair, and Tubli. These matches helped strengthen player cohesion, improve fitness, and develop tactical strategies, representing a key step ahead of the tournament.
Majid emphasised the team’s goal of elevating Bahrain’s name in this prestigious global event and demonstrating the progress of Bahraini handball. With the national team’s consecutive successes in qualifying for the World Cup, the coach stressed that beyond achieving results, the focus is on delivering a performance that showcases the fighting spirit and the high organisational level of Bahraini handball.
He also highlighted the importance of this event as a chance to enhance young players’ experiences through interaction with international teams. Majid concluded by reaffirming the team’s readiness to compete, with aspirations to leave a lasting impact on the tournament and achieve a top-four finish.
